write RENDT and OLGA:
A Tao Triumph
Olga is traveling
again. A few days ago, Olga and her father Artemy took the train to return to
Crimea gain where Olga has already several times visited a particular
sanatorium. This time around she will be working with the same trainers
again, but they are no longer part of the old sanatorium which was no longer
able to provide the services it was built for, letting key staff go to set up
in private practice.
It will be in Ukraine
that Olga will be ready to have the plaster removed from her hand. This was
applied following skilled surgery in Moscow a few weeks ago. Hopefully after
the supporting spines can be pulled out, she will be able to use her hand
better again for day-to-day tasks like brushing teeth and eating
unassisted.
And after time in the
Ukraine, there will be more specialized treatment back in Germany again. An
advanced physiotherapy clinic in southern Germany has offered to work with
Olga to develop her mobility and dexterity to not only be able to achieve
more without help but also to work on skills to do more than just fend for
herself, but to be able to develop an acceptable lifestyle. And the story
below offers me encouragement that there will still be much progress. [Rendt]
A
Tao triumph that was!
First I doubted if I
should keep my diary during this journey. Well, then I would have to
overwrite it - and it seemed too difficult. But today's events definitely are
to be described.
All first half of the
day long we were packing up our luggage to go to Saki. By 13:00 everything
was ready and we had finally left to the train station. By that time
everybody was exhausted.
On the road I was
watching out the car window and has found that I feel like an alien in this
city, that I'm scared about thinking to come back here again.
On the road we got
into the numerous traffic jams. Hence we arrived 5 minutes late to our train.
Well, but what could be done? That was the dark side of the day. We were
totally disappointed and we thought that everything was lost.
But after we had got
that stressed, the light side of the day finally arrived. That was like in
Tao symbolism. We got the ticket exchanged without any problems.
My "brise"
was attached to my leg. Brise is a special orthopedic device to support my
knee. It was presented to me in Germany, so since then I have worn
it.
But today I was able
to make some steps by myself! A whole series of steps it was! First I got out
of the car. Then I walked through the entrance and then into the lift to go
upstairs. Of course, a friend of mine together with my father were there to
help me, but I did it!!
And that event has
cheered-up everybody. A Tao triumph that was! [Olga]
